§ 9-17. Specifications.

  • Each garbage receptacle, galvanized or plastic, shall have, when empty, a capacity of not more than twenty (20) gallons, and a weight not greater than twenty (20) pounds. Each receptacle shall be free from sharp edges around the rim or top, shall be free from holes or leaks, and shall be equipped with appropriate handles and a cover sufficient to prevent the entrance of rainwater and insects. Each receptacle shall be kept securely covered at all times except when being filled or emptied, and shall be located at an easily accessible place on the public right-of-way for pickup.
