§ 4-10. Female dogs in heat.

  • It shall be unlawful and punishable by a fine of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or ten (10) days' imprisonment, or both, for the owner of a female dog in heat to allow it to be upon a public street or in a public place. The owner of a female dog in heat shall keep it securely confined on private property. A female dog which is found to be in violation of this section is hereby declared to be a nuisance and shall be impounded as provided in this article. Females in heat that are participating in bona fide animal competitions and shows or are in the process of being shipped or transported in the confinement of a create or cage or are otherwise in secure restraint shall be excluded from the preceding provisions of this section.
