§ 2-36. Additional duties and salary of mayor-councilman.

  • (a)

    The mayor-councilman, in addition to his duties prescribed by the Charter and Code of Ordinances, shall perform the additional duties as prescribed herein. He shall be the chief administrative officer of the town and perform the duties necessarily attendant to such office, such as directing and supervising the duties of officers and employees of the town except the town clerk, town attorney and the members of the council. All legislative power shall be exercised by the full council in the manner prescribed by law and when the mayor-councilman is exercising the additional duties of the chief administrator he shall refrain from exercising the legislative powers set forth in this Code of Ordinances and the Charter of the town.

    (b)

    The mayor-councilman, in performing the duties delegated in paragraph (a), shall devote the time necessary to perform efficiently the additional duties herein delegated and shall be compensated at a rate as set by the town council, and as reviewed annually, payable in equal monthly installments. The salary set forth herein shall be in addition to the annual salary payable to the mayor-councilman provided for in this Code of Ordinances.
