§ 2-20. Order and decorum.

  • (a)

    Councilmembers. While the town council is in session, the members shall preserve order and decorum; and a member shall neither, by conversation or otherwise, delay or interrupt the proceedings or the peace of the council, nor disturb any member while speaking, nor refuse to obey the orders of the council or its presiding officer, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.

    (b)

    Other persons. Any person disrupting a meeting of the council shall be forthwith barred from the council chamber by the presiding officer, unless permission to remain is granted by a majority vote of the council.

    (c)

    Enforcement. Any person who violates the order and decorum of a council meeting shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Any law enforcement officer present at the meeting is hereby authorized to arrest or remove any person who violates the order and decorum of the meeting upon instruction of the council chair.
